2m MAGNUM Telescope Project:

The MAGNUM 2m-telescope project is designed to study variability in active galaxy nuclei. It is a wide-field, visible and infrared survey type instrument, capable of remote and semi-automated operation. In addition to EOST building and installing the telescope, EOS is refurbishing and refitting the LURE Observatory to house the telescope. The observatory refit included a complete re-construction of the observatory building, pier and dome, as well as the implementation of optimized thermal management. This telescope completed factory acceptance tests at EOST and shipped from Tucson in Q4 1999and was installed on Mt. Haleakala in Q1 2000.
